Looking for the Light: Good Health

Last night I heard a very healthy message at my favorite grocery store, Heinen’s. Jordan Rubin spoke and promoted his new line of products, Get Real Nutrition.

Jordan Rubin is a doctor of naturopathic medicine and certified nutrition consultant. At 41 years of age Rubin is regarded by many as the most respected and beloved natural health expert in America. His personal account of his battle and triumph over Crohn’s disease has resonated with millions around the world and is one of the most dramatic natural health stories ever told. He’s a successful entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author, international motivational speaker and television personality (TCT). And …. I might add, he’s also an organic farmer with lots of rolling acres in southern Missouri and papa to six kids of which five are adopted. As a follower of Christ his message of health and wellness is one of HOPE.

Jordan will be at Heinen’s downtown Cleveland location today; 900 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115. Call for a reservation as seating is limited ~ (216) 302-3020.

Make it a great day today!

LOOKING for the Light: 10 Qualities to Look for in a Friend

Life is so much better with a FRIEND!

Life is so much better with a FRIEND!

I was blessed by hearing this great discussion on Moody Radio on Wednesday afternoon July 22. A pastor was discussing friendship. He spoke about having a deep, meaningful friendship, Special “F” friends is what he called them.

The pastor laid out 10 qualities to look for in a friend – expressed in question form. Here they are!

1. Who do you turn to for WISDOM – someone that you respect and who knows what the Bible says?

2. Who COMES ALONG SIDE YOU and DOESN’T HAVE TO BE ASKED WHEN YOU NEED HELP because they know you instinctively?

3. Who CORRECTS you when you need it?

4. Who PUSHES you to THINK and GROW?

5. Who LISTENS to your HOPES and DREAMS?

6. Who is QUICK TO FORGIVE if you’ve behaved poorly (and we all do)?

7. Who is able to LAUGH and HAVE FUN with you?

9. Who remains your FRIEND despite DIFFERENCES OF OPINION?

~I hope you found this as helpful as I did ~

Make it a great day!

God Bless You!

LOOKING for the Light: Significance

Here’s an important message I came across the other day. It has something valuable to say to each one of us – especially if you are feeling rather small today.

(Read Psalm 134)

I think of other servants of the Lord today – pastors and their families who serve in small churches in small places. They’re often discouraged, tempted to lose heart, doing their best, serving unnoticed and unrewarded. They wonder if anyone cares what they’re doing; if anyone ever thinks of them, prays for them, or considers them a part of their lives.

I would say to them — and to anyone who is feeling lonely or insignificant: Though your place is small, it is a holy place. The one who made and moves heaven and earth is at work in and through you. “Lift up your hands” and praise Him.

(From David Roper’s devotional  June 28, 2015 — Our Daily Bread.)

Make it a great week!

Happy 4th of July!

God Bless You!

LOOKING for the Light: Some Wisdom

Today I’m sharing a great quote from my book, “Fresh Hope … Cleveland.” It will bring some wisdom to your life! Enjoy!

Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering. ~ Author Unknown

LOOKING for the LIGHT: How Does Praise Make Your Life Better?

How does PRAISE make your life better?

I think this post is so appropriate right before Thanksgiving. PRAISE does a few very special things when you are a child of the King. It’s a very powerful concept. Practice it daily and see the benefits that it brings for your soul.

Here are just a few ways PRAISE makes your life better:
1. PRAISE takes your mind off yourself and puts your focus on Him — and taps you into His Power and Great Love for you.

2. PRAISE lets you enjoy the current moment ~ and that’s the only place where you can do something good for your life.

3. PRAISE brings you into the presence of God.

The scriptures encourage us to PRAISE God: I will bless the Lord at all times and His PRAISE shall continually be in my mouth.

Enjoy your turkey day and KEEP PRAISING GOD!

God Bless You!

LOOKING for the LIGHT: Encouragement for today!

God pushes you to the edge

I hope this brings a little encouragement your way today. Life is hard so it’s best to trust God with all the details of your life.

Please see the tab on my blog labeled “Relationship with God” for more information on how to have a relationship with God as well. It’s not about being religious — and a bunch of dos and don’ts.

Make it a great day!

God Bless You!

LOOKING for the LIGHT: More on Selective Christian

sunrise and mountains

After having a conversation with my friend the other day, I wanted to share a bit of insight into the Selective Christian situation.

If you decide to only obey certain things as Selective Christians tend to do, you will miss God’s fullness and the richness of everything He wants to give you and have you become. In essence, you cheat yourself out of God’s goodness — and all because you have the attitude that says, “You Want What You Want.”

There is a solution to your dilemma, fully surrender your life to Christ and THEN you will see God work in your life. He’s amazing!

Make it a great day!

God Bless You!
