LOOKING for the LIGHT: How Does Praise Make Your Life Better?

How does PRAISE make your life better?

I think this post is so appropriate right before Thanksgiving. PRAISE does a few very special things when you are a child of the King. It’s a very powerful concept. Practice it daily and see the benefits that it brings for your soul.

Here are just a few ways PRAISE makes your life better:
1. PRAISE takes your mind off yourself and puts your focus on Him — and taps you into His Power and Great Love for you.

2. PRAISE lets you enjoy the current moment ~ and that’s the only place where you can do something good for your life.

3. PRAISE brings you into the presence of God.

The scriptures encourage us to PRAISE God: I will bless the Lord at all times and His PRAISE shall continually be in my mouth.

Enjoy your turkey day and KEEP PRAISING GOD!

God Bless You!

LOOKING for the LIGHT: Encouragement for today!

God pushes you to the edge

Hi!
I hope this brings a little encouragement your way today. Life is hard so it’s best to trust God with all the details of your life.

Please see the tab on my blog labeled “Relationship with God” for more information on how to have a relationship with God as well. It’s not about being religious — and a bunch of dos and don’ts.

Make it a great day!

God Bless You!

LOOKING for the LIGHT: More on Selective Christian

sunrise and mountains

Hi!
After having a conversation with my friend the other day, I wanted to share a bit of insight into the Selective Christian situation.

If you decide to only obey certain things as Selective Christians tend to do, you will miss God’s fullness and the richness of everything He wants to give you and have you become. In essence, you cheat yourself out of God’s goodness — and all because you have the attitude that says, “You Want What You Want.”

There is a solution to your dilemma, fully surrender your life to Christ and THEN you will see God work in your life. He’s amazing!

Make it a great day!

God Bless You!

LOOK for the LIGHT: What’s a Selective Christian?

Sunshine

Welcome!
My blog has many reasons for being — it’s supports my new book Fresh Hope … Cleveland, shares helpful information, and eventually will tell you more about my two new books. But today I’m introducing a new series I’m calling LOOK for the LIGHT. Here I’ll share some spiritual information that a lot of us have often wondered about.

What’s a Selective Christian? First of all I must clarify that a Christian is someone who has put their faith and trust in God. This happens when they understand several things: why Christ died on the cross, they are sinners, they need God, and as a result they are asking Christ to come into their heart and be their Lord and Savior — change their life by living no longer for themselves but for Christ.

Okay! Now a Selective Christian has understood what living for God is and they claim to want to FOLLOW Christ. A Selective Christian is somebody a lot of times between the ages of 18 – 42 that say they are a committed Christian. They say they have committed their lives to following and serving Christ. But in reality Selective Christians pick and choose what they want to obey and do from the scriptures. This means there’s very little change in their lifestyle from before they invited Christ into their heart. Simply put, they do what they want and their lifestyles are really no different than non-Christians. They may gamble, drink, go to the clubs, and visit pornographic websites. They are more like fans of Christ rather than people who are sold out and are living their lives FOLLOWING JESUS.

Are you a Selective Christian? Here are two things you can ask yourself to determine your own status.
1. Do you and others notice any change in your life? For example, has your behavior or attitudes changed in a good way?
2. Have you left behind a former identity — a former lifestyle? Maybe you no longer want to drink and go to the bar on the weekends.

See you back here in a couple weeks (election next Tuesday). Our topic will be “How Does Praise Make Your Life Better?”

Make it a good week!
God Bless You!

Love is More Than Just a Feeling ~ Part 6

Hi! Today I’m bringing back the series I started before the holidays — Love is More Than Just a Feeling. I hope your heart and soul will be nourished by these thoughts today. I hope they also keep you really warm especially if you are in the deep freeze like we are here in Cleveland, Ohio.

Have a great day!

God Bless You!

Here’s More …..

We’ve all heard the Biblical comment to “love your neighbor as yourself.” But have you ever stopped to think about how profoundly this attitude would change the world if we all carried it out each and every day?

Jesus summed up the entire point of God’s law in two phrases. Both of them loving God, and loving your neighbor(s)–are all about putting the needs of others before our own.  Matthew 22:37-40 (Gospel.com ~ November 3, 2013).

Man’s nature is inherently self-centered, selfish. But the moment you put your focus on someone else, watch how your life changes. I’ll give you a big hint. What you’ll experience is joy!

Challenge: This week I challenge you to reach out to others — think of someone you know that could use a blessing — and be one!

Love is More Than Just a Feeling ~ Part 4

~ Come on out of the cold and enjoy a cup of java. Then discover a very important resource for your life. I’ve talked about this in my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.  Hope you get all your Christmas shopping done.  Here’s more about that important resource for your life!

God Bless You! ~ Nanci

Welcome to Part 4 of the series — Love Is More Than Just a Feeling.

In this series I’ve been talking about something we all want and look for – for our lives. Yes, it’s love. The sense that we matter and have a purpose — that we feel accepted and cared for in life is what everyone wants and needs. But we look for it sometimes as the song goes, in all the wrong places. We can look for it in relationships, career, money, prestige, fame, education, or through adventure or doing good to others. But the plain fact is, these things don’t bring satisfaction and many of them are dead ends in themselves. There is only one lasting type of love that can nurture us and make us whole: God. God is love. There are numerous versions of the Bible. However, The Message Bible on many occasions sums up things best of all.

Read This Out Loud

Chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Colossians 3:12 -14 ~ The Message
