God Bless You!

Hi! Come on in and find more resources for your life just like my book Fresh Hope …. Cleveland.

Make it a great day!

God Bless You!

I realized that when I posted my message a few Tuesdays ago that I did not sign off in the usual way that I always do ~ with the words “God Bless You.”

Usually we say “God Bless You” after someone sneezes. One explanation holds that the custom originally began as an actual blessing. Gregory I became Pope in AD 590 as an outbreak of the bubonic plague was reaching Rome. In hopes of fighting off the disease, he ordered unending prayer and parades of chanters through the streets. At the time, sneezing was thought to be an early symptom of the plague. The blessing (“God bless you!”) became a common effort to halt the disease. Another legend holds that the heart stops beating during a sneeze, and that the phrase “bless you” encourages the heart to continue beating (thanks to Wikipedia).

But what does that mean when I tell you “God Bless You?” It simply means that something supernaturally wonder will be coming your way. For a brief time God’s favor will be upon you. Blessings come in many shapes and sizes. They may be running into an old friend, getting a new job, or receiving a new puppy. It may also be catching a glimpse of a beautiful sunset, hearing a new song for the first time, or enjoying a generous slice of your favorite cheesecake. A friend made me dinner last weekend and then treated me to a concert given by singer/songwriter Mark Schultz. The concert was wonderful. Mark Schultz is not only a wonderful singer/songwriter but he is hilarious. He is hilarious! I had a great time. God blessed me with a great evening. My prayer for you is that you will be blessed by God in many glorious ways too ~ in the most unexpected ways.

God Bless You!

Be a Blessing ~ Wisdom for a Tough Economy

~ More resources to help you just like in my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

I posted the message below on Facebook yesterday. Many of you don’t have access to Facebook so I wanted you to be aware of this as well.

The next several years may be difficult ones due to cuts in government programs like food stamps, Obamacare rollout, fallout from Obamacare, continued unemployment, and our government’s debt and shutdown crisis issues which are pending as of January 15. It’s obvious that long-term solutions need to be found to keep this country from further decline. In some ways as you live your life this may seem like the best of times — yet for our country it may be the worst of times as Shakespeare once said. While things change on a daily basis around the world and throughout the United States including our government, one thing alone does not change: God. And so as you read the rest of the post below, remember that there is Hope and Good News for all of the world’s citizens. Why? Because you can always choose to put your faith and trust in God. For more see the Relationship with God tab on this blog.

Thanks so much ~ Make it a great day!

God Bless You!

Due to the Instability of the Economy (From Facebook):

Some single ladies and I were talking about the economy yesterday while attending a special program at someone’s house. We agreed that things may get to the point where people will have to double up in their living situations.

~ so if you have an extra room or a big house, think about getting it ready for others that may need help. I think we are in for a rough ride this next year.

~ and if you aren’t affected by the economy, look around to see how you can be a blessing to someone else who through no fault of their own is struggling. Thank you!

End Times

Today marks 290 blog posts since February 13, 2010. Come on in and find more resources for your life just like my book Fresh Hope …. Cleveland.

Make it a great day!

The marketing consultant for my book e-mailed me on Saturday and said the following:

This is starting to go way beyond politics. Some of the stories coming out of this administration’s handling of the shutdown are downright scary. Seems like they are coming out of a movie. How can this stuff happen in this country??

Please be aware of what is going on, pray for our country, and please vote accordingly in November and beyond.

I e-mailed back and said —  we’re in the End Times as predicted in the Bible.

Good Advice ~ to Help You!

1. Pray for our country.

2. Vote on Tuesday, November 5.

3. No, this is not a movie. It’s real life. For more on this subject and to be better informed, see the last book — the Book of Revelation in the Bible.

4. Open Your Heart ~ then, go to the tab on this blog marked “Relationship with God.” Read it.

Encouragement for Today

~ More resources for you just like in my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

This is part of a post I wrote on September 10, 2013 (A Bit of Everything ~ More Resources to Help You!). With all the other information I shared that day, this may have gotten lost. So I thought it would be important to share it with you again today because many of you really need it!

You’ll Get through This (Hope and Help for Your Turbulent Times)

~ A new book by Max Lucado

Max Lucado is not only a pastor and author many times over — writing about 100 books. He’s also considered America’s pastor. He has cards, stickers, small books, and all sorts of encouraging things that have been drawn up for purchase from his words of care and encouragement from the books that he writes.

In his tweet on September 10,  he said this: The lesson we learn from Joseph (in the Bible) is surprisingly simple: do what pleases God. His new book You’ll Get through This is for everyone who is experiencing tough times — and who isn’t? Last month when the book can out you could download the first chapter for FREE! Check that out by going to the website with the same name as the book (youllgetthroughthis). It’s a very helpful book and one each of us can gain encouragment and insight from.

Next Week: I’ll tell you more about the two new books I’m writing.

Make it a great day!

God Bless You!

October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month + Videos

~ More HOPE and RESOURCES from Nanci’s book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

What a crazy day with the government shut-down and all the things it affects from coast to coast!  Despite that, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  Ladies and men please do your breast exams and get your mammograms. Although women are more readily diagnosed, about 1,500 men are diagnosed each year.

But this month has even more significant for me than just a month that marks awareness of cancer. That’s because on October 25, 2003, I went for my mammogram and a tumor was discovered. Depending on how you count survivor years — date of diagnosis or date of treatment, this month marks 10 years ago that my tumor was found. So next month I’m officially a 10-year breast cancer survivor!

Some Good Advice

Do your monthly self-breast exams and get your Pap test. Besides that, don’t smoke, get your rest, eat a well-balanced diet with lots of colorful fruits and vegetables, and stay away from sugar! While researchers are not saying there’s a correlation between stress and cancer, it does play a part in weakening your immune system. Therefore, find healthy ways to reduce your stress like walking, gardening, or cycling. These obviously are just a few examples. The point is, get regular exercise and develop healthy attitudes towards the challenges that come your way in life.

Today with all the treatments and drugs available, cancer isn’t the death sentence it used to be. If you are experiencing pain or feel something just isn’t right, see you doctor right away.
