POWER for Your Life

~More resources to help you in keeping with my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The series Brown Rice + Veggies with Ginger Sauce will be back next Tuesday, May 7.
Note: From this point forward as far as I  know, I’ll be blogging only on Tuesdays. I’m working on a new book and a few other opportunities have come my way which require me to adjust my schedule. I hope you’ll continue to stop by each week to read and be a part of this blog. I always appreciate your great comments and insight. Thank you so much!
Make it a great day! God Bless You ~ Nanci
Dear Friend,
You may tell me that your positive thoughts, your family, or your own energies and abilities give you power to live a great life. That’s all well and good but ultimately you can’t bring an end to illness for you or someone else. Even your best efforts can’t make things happen for you in life or stop things from happening like 9-11 or the Boston Marathon bombing. Only God has the power to do that.
If you are a follower of Christ (see Relationship with God tab on this blog), you know that prayer moves God — it’s POWERFUL. Here’s some of what my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland tells you in the third section:
Prayer is the most powerful resource you possess! It’s powerful because it allows      God to move in your life; it unleashes His power. Prayer can give comfort and peace of mind when you tell God your concerns. And while the answers may not come overnight, keep praying. When all is silent, your Heavenly Father is most at work in your life. Do you need a miracle today? God is there now waiting to help you.
Thursday is National Prayer Day. Spending just a few minutes thanking God and lifting up the needs of others along with yours will bring the answers that only God can bring!
PRAYER = Power for Your Life!
Brown Rice + Veggies with Ginger Sauce ~ Is Organic Better?
~More resources to help you in keeping with my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Welcome to this new series ~all about your health! Today’s topic is one that many will be interested in. I know I began eating organic foods more often after having breast cancer. I wanted to protect my body from illness. So here’s an interesting discussion with a link so you can read more.

Make it a great day ~ God Bless You ~ Nanci

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Organic Really is Better. Here’s a small part of the article “Is Organic Better? Ask a Fruit Fly.” If you’re interested in reading the entire article, the link is below.
The research, titled “Organically Grown Food Provides Health Benefits to Drosophila melanogaster,” tracked the effects of organic and conventional diets on the health of fruit flies. By nearly every measure, including fertility, stress resistance and longevity, flies that fed on organic bananas and potatoes fared better than those who dined on conventionally raised produce.
While the results can’t be directly extrapolated to human health, the research nonetheless paves the way for additional studies on the relative health benefits of organic versus conventionally grown foods. Fruit fly models are often used in research because their short life span allows scientists to evaluate a number of basic biological effects over a relatively brief period of time, and the results provide clues for better understanding disease and biological processes in humans.
Brown Rice + Veggies with Ginger Sauce ~ See Why Every Second Counts
~More resources to help you in keeping with my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Welcome to this new series ~ it’s all about your health!

This post is written in loving memory of my friend Sue who died last night. She was being treated for ovarian cancer for about three years. Not long ago during the course of things, she developed blood clots. And while being treated in the hospital she suffered two strokes last week which led to paralysis of her right side. Strokes are nothing to fool around with. I hope this information helps you or a loved one you know.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your health isn’t something you can neglect ~ neither are the warning signals your body gives you. I have two dear friends that deal with a variety of health concerns. Both have had strokes.
Stroke is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY. Every second counts. That’s because the first two hours are most critical in regaining functioning — Brain Functioning — and clot dissolving medications can be administered which can save someone’s life. These medications can reduce long-term disability that’s associated with the most common type of stroke.
Do you know the warning signs of a stroke?
Stroke Warning Signs
  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body.
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or understanding.
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.
  • Sudden, severe headache with no known cause.
If you or someone you know is having one or more of these symptoms, call 9-1-1  immediately! Don’t delay.
Make it a great day!
God Bless You!
Brown Rice + Veggies with Ginger Sauce ~ Baby Steps to Good Health
~More resources to help you in keeping with my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Welcome to this new series ~all about your health!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your health isn’t something you should neglect. But if you have neglected your health, you can start today to make changes. It’s not too late. Here are some baby steps that will start you in the right direction.
Give up the smokes, start exercising, and start eating right. Even small changes can bring lasting benefits. Here are a few things you can do right now:
  1. Use a smaller plate for portion control during mealtime. Losing a few pounds could prevent diabetes and/or a heart attack. A new “you” could increase your self-esteem.
  2. Walk for 15 – 20 minutes a few times a week. You’ll have more energy and lose a few pounds all at the same time!
  3. Replace your **diet soda and other soda-like drinks with water! You’ll not only lose weight but you’ll be providing your brain and your cells with the necessary hydration they need to function well.
  4. Have fresh fruit for dessert several times a week ~ your body will thank you for the fiber.
  5. Replace the white bread and pastas with whole wheat versions ~ use light olive oil for dipping and marinating ~ get rid of the butter.
FYI: **People that drink diet sodas don’t lose weight: They gain weight! In a recent study at the University of Texas Health Science Center, it was found that there was a 41% increase in risk of being overweight for every can or bottle of diet soft drink a person consumes each day. Plus the chemicals in the diet drink are actually so very sweet that it causes your body to crave more food – thus you eat more and gain weight.
Brown Rice + Veggies with Ginger Sauce: Men, Women Affected Diffferently
~More resources to help you in keeping with my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Welcome to this new series ~ all about your health! Today I’m sharing the symptoms for heart attack ~ specifically the difference in men and women.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Key Difference in Heart Attacks Between Women and Men
Heart disease is the number one killer of men and women.
But, when woman have a heart attack, they tend to be about 10 years older than men. Women are more likely to have other conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure — so it’s important they seek medical attention quickly.
Unfortunately, women are less likely than men to believe they’re having a heart attack. Therefore they are more likely to delay seeking emergency treatment.
As with men, women’s most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort. But women are more likely than men to experience some other symptoms such as shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, or back or jaw pain.
I hope this information is helpful!
Take good care of yourself ~ and keep praying for the city of Boston after yesterday’s attack on the Boston Marathon!
God Bless You!
Reflection ~ Life is Precious
~More resources to help you in keeping with my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.
My new series Brown Rice + Veggies with Ginger Sauce ~ will be back later this week. It’s full of great wisdom for your health that you won’t want to miss!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I feel humbled to have a book with information to share with others. Never in a million years did I think I’d be standing in front of people and have something of worth and value to share. In 7th grade I’d worry for weeks about standing up in front of my English class to give an oral book report. That was horrible! My English teacher would be flipped out if he saw me now. Live changes. God is so good! I am grateful to be on God’s team and have Him use me and my story to help others. If you are interested in learning more, see the Relationship with God tab.

This week I’ll share my story, my book “Fresh Hope … Cleveland”, and a new PowerPoint presentation to a breast cancer support group at Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Hts., Ohio. The title of my talk is “Dealing with the Storms of Life.” Although storms can come in many shapes and sizes, there’s probably no one more aware of life’s storms than someone being treated for cancer.

This  past January I became a nine-year breast cancer survivor. I thank God for the gift of my life! But as I go to share my thoughts this week, I’m much in awe of other women. My cancer journey seems easy in comparison to the stories I hear and of the dear people I know that are now walking that road. It takes courage to deal with cancer. To me, women going through cancer are the strongest people I know!

As I reached out to someone for prayer last week, I was shocked when I heard a man tell me that every day he intensionally reaches out to his sister and tells her he loves her. He said he realized the importance of doing this even though it’s out of his comfort zone. His sister has been a cancer patient for quite a while. She’s  unbelieveable. She never complains and I know she’s been through it all. Today she’s in the hospital so my prayers and love go out to her as I write this. She’s an inspiration to all of us.

Hug your friends and love ones; Tell them you love them today. Because life can change in a blink of an eye. But don’t worry! God sees in the blinks and between the cracks. But best of all, He sees right into your heart and He knows right where you are!

God Bless You!
