Did you Know? Check out these gems!

~More on Nanci J. Gravill’s book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

A Few Observations: Have you noticed the pumpkin pies and all kinds of apples now at the grocery store? I can’t quite get used to the fact that it gets dark now at 8:30 p.m. I love those yellow school buses and the dear children on them. However, I still have to remember to leave a little earlier to allow for the extra traffic. And if you haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet, I want you to know there’s still 117 days to find just the right things for your loved ones.

Below are some helpful little tidbits ~ just for you!

1. Home Heating Application (HEAP): Still a good time to fill out your Home Heating Application (HEAP). This program gives a discount on home heating if you qualify. Check your local library for an application. If you library doesn’t have the applications yet, for more information on income guidelines and how the process works contact the Ohio Department of Development at the following phone number 1-800-282-0880 or online at

2. September is National Preparedness Month. After Hurricane Irene last weekend it sure wouldn’t hurt to get a first aid kit together and review with your kids what you’ll do in an emergency situation.

3. Pursing your dreams is something you do in good economic times — right? We need to resist the temptation to think that God and His unlimited resources are affected by the mortgage industry, the unemployment rate, and the stock market. God is still sovereign, all-powerful, and completely capable of supplying you with all you need to do what He has called you to do. Did you know? Why is prayer so powerful?

~ More on Nanci J. Gravill’s new book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

This post is dedicated to the residents on the Eastern seaboard ~ praying for your safety from Hurricane Irene.

All About Prayer

Prayer is just simply talking to God ~ telling Him your every thought, need, and concern. Prayer can happen anywhere. It can take place in your car, at home, while shopping, in the park, or with someone on the telephone. The important thing to remember is God is always there ready to listen and help you. If you are a Chrisitian and have a personal relationship with God through Christ, all your prayers WILL get answered. And yes, they won’t always be answered in quite the way or at the time you had hoped for. My roomate from college is famous for saying that God is seldom early, but He’s never late. And I find that to be so true.

Why is Prayer so Powerful?

That’s simple. Prayer is so powerful because it moves God and unleashes His power. Be careful what you pray for ~ it just might happen and in a most magnificent way.

Prayer also lowers your blood pressure and gives you peace of mind. It also helps stengthen your immune system and more than likely helps you live longer. Never underestimate the value of a sincere prayer prayed DIRECTLY to God.

Book News

I’m working diligently with the publisher on all aspects of the production process. The manuscript is being reviewed for copyright infringement and is at the same time in the production or layout stage. I’ll bring you more news when I have more information.

Have a great weekend and remember to say your prayers.

Did you Know? Awesome!

~ More on Nanci J. Gravill’s new book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

Book Update:

I just finished writing and submitting the last several things for the publisher. Hurray! I’m a little tired. The journey took almost 32 months. But as I was changing a few things, I discovered some very wonderful things this past weekend I’d like to share with you today.

Great Thoughts for Today:

Did you know “faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right.”

Did you know that “if God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning … Face it, friend. He’s crazy about you!”

-Max Lucado, America’s pastor per Christianity Today magazine, author, and writer (b. 1955)

A Great Thing for Your Life:

God really does love you and that’s why He’s calling you to come into a personal relationship with him. You can buy as many things as you like and go on all kinds of vacations. Still, those things won’t satisfy you heart — your soul. Christ died on the cross for your sins (the things that keep you separated from a Holy God — fear, worry, lying, addiction to drugs or alcohol).  But He also rose again and His victory means when you trust him with your entire life, you have the victory too!

You can’t do life yourself ~ you don’t have the Power, Resources, the Knowledge to make it all happen. If you did, I believe you’d take care of this terrible economy — wouldn’t you? And where will you go at the end of this life? You have a choice today. Choose Jesus.

Prayer ~ to Know Christ as Your Savior:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that I’ve done a lot of things wrong, and I ask Your forgiveness. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Today I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to start trusting and following You as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for my new life in Christ. Amen.

If you invited Christ into your heart, tell someone and find a church that preaches the risen Christ — and go! There you will meet other Christians who will encourage you in your faith.

God Bless You!

Did you Know? Immunization Info

~ More on Nanci J. Gravill’s new book Fresh Hope Cleveland.

August is National Immunization month. Since kids go back to school at the end of this month, it’s a time to make sure both children and adults have their shots up to date. Vaccines keep us from getting an illness or disease — they keep us from also spreading illness as well.

For Adults:

Adults need a tetanus shot every 10 years and people ages 65 and older need a one-time pneumonia shot.

Don’t forget your flu shot when they become available later in September and October. Flu shots will also protect your from chronic illnesses like bronchitis.

For Your Children: More information regarding immunizations:

Last year the state of Ohio came out with new vaccine requirements for all children entering seventh-grade and kindergarten. They are as follows:

1. Kindergarteners are required to get a second dose of the chicken pox vaccine (varicella) before starting school. The final dose of the polio vaccine must be given on or after the child’s fourth birthday.

2. Seventh-graders must get booster shots for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis or tetanus and diphtheria before starting school. The Ohio Department of Health has seen an increase in pertussis cases, also known as whooping cough.
Talk with your doctor about any concerns and depending on health conditions or allergic reaction, some shots may not be required. Discuss available options with a healthcare professional. (per Akron Beacon Journal medical writer Cheryl Powell of August 18, 2010 and
For Cleveland:
