Important Book Announcement

~ More on Nanci J. Gravill’s book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

After nearly 31 months of writing and researching information for my book, here’s news about some decisons I’ve made lately and more about when my book will be for sale.

This is a long post but I’m sure you’ll want to read every word.

I feel very blessed to have great writing and business skills, a college degree, and lots of work experience writing all kinds of things. But the most important thing for any writer is to have something worthy to write about. As the events of my life began to unfold during those five years beginning back in 2003, I was painfully aware of the challenges that were ahead of me. Besides breast cancer and financial issues, the unexpected deaths of several loved ones along with loosing friends I’d known for the last 20 and 30 years brought with it silence, sadness, and the need to heal both physically and emotionally. I would never have thought I’d refer to those events as blessings. But they were –all of them. What I did to survive those many months proved to be more valuable than I’d ever imagine. Of course, as you may guess, my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland was created as a result.

In 2009 with several difficult years behind me came the longing to be productive again; my first inclination was of course to write. It was just after the holidays and the raw January days lent themselves well to sitting at my computer for hours. During these delightfully creative times I met other writers that helped me learn more about the millions of things involved in publishing. And believe me there are a million things to know! This I can say for sure, writing a book takes a lot of time, patience, and perseverance to press ahead through uncharted waters and discouragement. Nevertheless, this has without a doubt been a fantastic learning experience for me. I would not trade any of the circumstances for anything else in this world. And I thank all the wonderful people that have helped me and prayed for me during this time.

Since the start of the year, however, I’ve struggled to figure out just the right way to market and distribute my book. I got quotes from book printers and evaluated their services, met with my marketing consultant, and reviewed other recommendations from writers. There are many more options out there for publishing a book these days. Today I’m proud to tell you that the Holy Spirit helped me select the best publisher for my book. WestBow Press in Bloomington, Indiana, will publish my first book. They are a division of Thomas Nelson Publishing. As you may know, Thomas Nelson is the world’s largest Christian publisher. WestBow therefore also has the highest editorial standards and a tradition of high morals and ethics. Each author must submit a manuscript that embraces Christian values and their commitment to Jesus Christ. I was impressed with the publisher’s desire for excellence in all aspects of the process.

In the next several months I’ll be signing off on many production phases. Fresh Hope … Cleveland will even be getting a makeover. I love the current cover but it will sure be interesting to see WestBow’s interpretation of Fresh Hope! I’ll be keeping you updated on the progress as things move along. I don’t have an exact release date for you. But I anticipate that the book will be ready for sale by mid-November or before. All I know is it will be here in time for the holidays and that will be a wonderful Christmas present for me and many others who need help in Cleveland.

When the book comes out I’ll be opening a new chapter of this journey. It will be filled with promotions and venturing out to do book signings and speaking engagements. Please make sure you check the calendar on my website to find out more about theses events at I’d love to see you at any or all of the book signings and speaking events. You are most welcome!

In closing, your encouragement has meant so much to me over the past months. I hope you will continue to support the book and me through the months to come. I believe the next part of the journey holds even more promise and adventure. Without a doubt, just over the horizon there are quiet moments waiting to burst forth full of fresh hope for Cleveland.

Thank you so much!

God Bless You!

Did You Know? (how to feel happy)

~ More on Nanci J. Gravill’s new book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

Since my book features a chapter on coping skills and elements of emotional intelligence, I thought this would be a great thing to share today. It’s so amazing that one little thing could make you feel better –and someone else as well!

QUESTION: Did you know that there’s three things you could do each day to make your life better?

ANSWER: Did you know that giving out three sincere compliments to three people during the course of your day will make you feel like a million bucks? It’s really true. Try it and see how much better the world looks to you!  You might even receive something great back in return!

Did You Know? ~ Home Heating Program (HEAP)

~ More on Nanci J. Gravill’s new book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

It has been dangerously hot here in Cleveland the last several days with temperatures near 100 degrees. Oddly enough the subject of my post today concerns keeping you warm in the winter months through the Home Heating Program (HEAP).

Even though you are wearing your shorts and eating lots of ice cream, it is time to do your paperwork in order to receive assistance with your home heating needs. The sooner you submit your application the better.

Most Cuyahoga County libraries will soon have applications. I checked at my library and haven’t gotten the new applications in yet. For more information on income guidelines and how the process works contact the Ohio Department of Development at 1-800-282-0880 or online at

Keep cool!

God Bless You!

Did You Know? (medical advice)

~ More on Nanci J. Gravill’s new book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

Because my book shares so many helpful ideas, I thought I’d share some more helpful ideas that answer the question “Did You Know?” These posts will give you medical information and info on things like hugs, gratitude, and the Cleveland Hiking Club just to name a few of the topics. Drop by every Tuesday and Friday to find out more.

This week I’m sharing some of your rights as a patient and how to have a great relationship with your doctor.

Did You Know …

Did you know you there’s a right and a wrong way to talk with your doctor about getting a second medical opinion? Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser of ABC News, indicates this is how you ask your doctor for a second opinion by saying: “I’d feel more comfortable if I had a second opinion.”

Sharing with your doctor in this way keeps him/her from getting defensive and shows your interest in your own medical treatment. Conveying the second opinion request to your doctor in this way also helps develop a healthy relationship with your physician.

Did you know you have the right too for your doctor to be on time for your appointment?  It’s unacceptable to be in the waiting room for more than 15 – 20 minutes unless your doctor has an emergency. Still, if the doctor is dealing with an emergency that should be communicated to you. One woman billed her doctor for the time she spent in the waiting room and received a check for $47 from her physician. She figured her time was valuable and billed the doctor accordingly.

See you back here on Friday!

▪ just like coconut cream pie ▪ ~ slice 12

~More on Nanci J. Gravill’s new book Fresh Hope … Cleveland.

Today, I’m sharing Slice #12.

Slice #12: My book offers you something more ~ and that’s the title of this last section in my book. And it’s the most important of all the sections.

Why is it so important? That’s because it has to do with your heart, your mind, your body, your soul, your intellect, your choices ~ and it has to do with everything you are and everything you will become. It’s about today, tomorrow, five years from now, twenty years from now, and all of eternity. It’s about being successful, secure, and joyful even when things do not look good in your life ~ especially when things do not look good in your life! It’s about being an overcomer. It’s about more than you could ever imagine because it’s about power and strength. But most of all it’s about love and its power to work and transform your life. Money, power, prestige, someone to love you, a fancy new car,  a new home ~ those things won’t fill you up and make you feel whole ~ they cannot fill the void that’s in each and every one of us.

~ Something More offers you a different kind of help and support ~ and it’s available 24/7 for all of your life. [from my book] “But more than anything, you’re reading this just because ▪ Because in this galaxy there  seems  to be  endless  possibilities ▪ But  how  do  you  tap  into  that  power? COULD THERE BE MORE?” To find out those answers and what you may be missing, read a copy of either the e-book or the printed soft cover copy of Fresh Hope … Cleveland as soon as they come out.

Make it a great day!

God Bless You!
