The Me I Want to Be +Covered Bridge Tour

~More about Nanci J. Gravill’s new book “Fresh Hope … Cleveland”

Next Week: See the Pink Glove video ~A creative tribute to those with cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

It is God’s presence not comfortable circumstances that brings people to the best version of themselves.  ~ John Ortberg

The above quote is from John Ortberg’s book “The Me I Want To Be: Becoming God’s Best Version Of You.” Books are wonderful resources, and I’ve recommended this book in my book for that very reason. Before “Fresh Hope … Cleveland” there were some dark, scary places in my life. They were the roads I had to travel so I could move forward in life and then my book Fresh Hope … Cleveland could come forth.  I traveled the road of foodstamps, church pantries, and used whatever items someone gave me. I’m glad I went that direction because it made me who I am today. It was not a delightful or comfortable situation to be in but it allowed me to learn many things. Those times also allowed me to appreciate much that I had once taken for granted. God also made me stronger and more resilent as I went through those times. And unbeknowns to me, I was gathering information for the text of my book “Fresh Hope … Cleveland.” Because you see, God does have a purpose for our lives and He is able to weave the difficulties we face into something wonderful.

Thought to Ponder~ All things are not in themselves good. However, God can work them together for good. The Bible says “All things work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Being comfortable can make for an easy life. But it never leads you to discover more about yourself.

Are you the best version of you or have you settled for the peanut butter and jelly version of you – the one that’s easy, convenient, cheap, and comfortable?

The best version of yourself evolves when your life is surrendered to Jesus – the Jesus that’s in the Bible and not anybody else’s version of Him! Things are rapidly changing in our country. You must decide who you will follow. If you proclaim the name of Jesus and follow Him your future is secure in Heaven and in eternity. If not, you will spend eternity in a very difficult place. Despite what you may think or believe right now, God is in control of this entire world. And Jesus is coming back very soon. It’s all predicted in the Bible. Our president is now laying some of the foundation for that to come to pass right now.

Pray This Prayer to follow Christ:

Jesus, I surrender my life to you. I know I have strayed from you and God. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for me. I realize I am a sinner and therefore separated from a Holy God. I ask now that you would forgive me of the things I have done and come into my heart. Live your life through me and transform my life and my heart with your great power and love. Amen. (Welcome! You are now in the family of God!)

If you prayed to ask Christ into your heart: Now, start reading the Bible and confess your sins and then ask for the filling of the Holy Spirit. It is through the Holy Spirit that you are able to live the Christian life. And finally get into a church that preaches the Word of God will help you grow and strengthen your faith.

A Blessing and A Harvest: Part II

~More about Nanci J. Gravill’s new book “Fresh Hope … Cleveland”

A Blessing and a Harvest series ~ all the latest things about “Fresh Hope … Cleveland.”

Let us not become weary in doing good,

for at the proper time we will reap a harvest

if we do not give up!  — Galatians 6:9

It’s been almost 21 months since I started this book. I’m on the last leg of the journey ~ halleluiah!! There are a few more challenges ahead and I share them here with you.

See last week’s post for the other challenges I shared. I’m writing this at lunch time. Did you notice my references to food last week and this week?

This post: Enjoy reading A Cabbage or a Pickle and Apple Pie Alá Mode!

A Cabbage or a PickleWhat’s in a Name?

Before getting an ISBN # (book identifier number) and doing the paperwork to become a Limited Liability Company (LLC) needed to apply for the ISBN #  and for taxes and for when I speak, we have the task of finishing off the forward of the book. Who will write it or at least review it ~ that’s the question?

Tennis shoes would never be the right thing with a beautiful ball gown. Accessories do matter. It IS important to do things the right way. I believe this wholeheartedly. That’s why we are pursuing other folks to help with the foreword.

~ ▪ I’ve done a lot of hard work on this book and

it’s only fitting that I take the time to complete

this task with as much credibility, professionalism,

and zeal as I’ve put into all the other sections of

                     the book. ▪ ~

Apple Pie Alá Mode!

We have narrowed it down to eight individuals we’d like to see either write the foreword or give a short review of the book. Maybe they all will respond! I’d love that!

My staff and I have come up with both nationally and locally known figures. We will approach two media people – (one’s a breast cancer survivor like me), an author, a Cleveland businessman, two nationally recognized Christian ministries, a physician at the Cleveland Clinic physician, and  a person who for right now we’ll refer to as our Los Angeles “mystery man.”

Things will continue to be very interesting in the next couple months or so.

~HOPE FOR YOU TODAY ~ Just like me, don’t give up. You may be closer than you know to your goal, your dream, or the end of something – which is really the very beginning of something very special for you!

“’I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to

prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope

                and a future.’”Jeremiah 29:11

~I’d love to hear from you today. Where are your challenges and where do you need some “Fresh Hope?” ~

A Blessing and A Harvest: Part I

~More about Nanci J. Gravill’s new book “Fresh Hope … Cleveland”

A Blessing and a Harvest ~ all the latest things about “Fresh Hope … Cleveland.”

Let us not become weary in doing good,

for at the proper time we will reap a harvest

if we do not give up! – Galatians 6:9

I started this book in early January 2009. I’ve written and researched only as I could on a part-time basis. I’m on the last leg of the journey ~ halleluiah!! There are a few more challenges ahead and today I share them with you.

Here’s the very latest on “Fresh Hope … Cleveland.”  Read Part II next week!

The Cavalry Has Arrived!

Gratefully my staff size has increased from three to four ~ this includes two people who come to help on occasion whenever they can get away from work or school.

 Adding Carrots to the Stew

Now is the time to add more resources not after it’s been printed. My assistant had a great idea for a new section– Affordable Entertainment. We are working on that and then we decided to add one more appendix.

 Don’t Judge a Book By It’s Cover ~

We have a great graphic designer in Pittsburgh! I’m excited to see what Chris comes up with.  As soon as we nail down the exact number of pages the book will be, he and God will go to work on a masterpiece for “Fresh Hope … Cleveland.”

Whipped Cream with a Cherry on Top

My book’s all in color. That’s ‘cause I want you to feel good as you read it! To go along with that we have great pictures that help convey the meaning of the text. But — we had to find an artist to help replace all the artwork. You see the current artwork is protected by copyright and it is not for commercial use. With about 60 different pictures in the book, it could take about a good month or so until that’s finished.

15 Things to Embrace

~More about Nanci J. Gravill’s new book “Fresh Hope … Cleveland”

These things apply to all of us and they are your “Fresh Hope” today.

  1. You and I cannot do life by ourselves; we need each other.
  2. Ask for help when you need it!
  3. Writing a book or anything else for that matter is a huge project. But you can do anything one day at a time if you don’t give up.
  4. Our resources (money) and talents should not be thought of as a reservoir but rather a channel with which to help others.
  5. Say “yes” to new opportunities even if you have to do them afraid.
  6. Pray. This unleashes God’s power!
  7. Life is hard. But don’t worry about tomorrow, God is already there. – Ruth Graham
  8. You have inner resources you’ve never tapped into that can help you through any storm – large or small. You will work the hardest and pray the most during time of difficulties – that’s when you grow. Your character is developed in these times.
  9. Some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.  ~ Garth Brooks
  10. Sometimes the best thing you can do for another person is to just listen.
  11. Who’s life have you made better today?
  12. Give of yourself, your time, your money, and your abilities. Give!
  13. Smile! Life’s more enjoyable that way!
  14. Develop some Mental Tenacity ~ Mental Toughness!
  15. But here’s what’s really good for your soul: Let us more and more insist on raising funds of love, of kindness, of understanding, of peace. Money will come if we seek first the Kingdom of God – the rest will be given.– Mother Teresa
